That's why there's always these flame wars on them | - languages are strongly entangled with social aspects. If they were neutral | (like, say, mathematical notation), we wouldn't have those flame wars. As if there were no flamewars over mathematic notation! Just look at the history of the notation for derivation. Genii at war is no less pretty.
