Larry Wall has been explicit in his hatred for Lisp, and has denied every similarity between Perl and any Lisp. I have tried to communicate with him, but because of my involvement with Lisp and Emacs and the FSF, got an amazingly stupid flame back, not addressing anything of what I asked him, and this was _before_ I looked closely enough at Perl to think it's the worst disgrace of a language that has plagued this planet, not even beaten by C++. he continued to attack Lisp whenever he had a chance, but in all fairness, I haven't seen anything from him in a long time, so he might have improved for all I care. #:Erik -- ATTENTION, all abducting aliens! you DON'T need to RETURN them!
