  hmmm.  you got me thinking now.

  I'd choose Common Lisp, because what Perl has that Common Lisp doesn't
  have would keep me occupied for about six months, and then I'd have an
  even more infectiously useful tool that'd last me a long time plus there
  would be a good reason for people to save me.  if you choose Perl, you
  either set out to do useful stuff immediately and exhaust the offers of
  the desert island in six months and go nuts, or you set out to write a
  Common Lisp in Perl, but then it would also be most beneficial for
  society not to save you.
