Or as my old boss John Alderman (back at DCA in Atlanta in the 1970's)
used to say [paraphrased]:

   "If you don't trust the person, then don't do business with them.
   The contract is there to protect the two parties against everyone
   *else* who might want to meddle in your affairs."
