speaking of which:

When i use franz's emacs-lisp interface, my imenu- functions stop working
on lisp files..  invoking imenu gives some weird error:  "cannot
instrument this file for imenu" or something like that..
Anyone know anything about this?

OTOH, running common-lisp from M-x eshell seems painless..  (what is
the advantage of eli over just running lisp from eshell?)
