This tutorial will show you how to create a text logo with a glowing green background. There's a Script-Fu script to do this very same effect, but once you know how to do it yourself, you can add variations and use your creativity in ways you can't do in a script.

It will give you an introduction to the Subtraction layer mode and to the Curves dialog.
